Finance β†’ Taxes

  • 4/24/2025, yes I did. Trump imposed a minimum tariff of 10% on goods from most countries, 25% sector-specific tariffs for certain goods from many countries, and oh, a 145% tariff on most, but not all goods from China. Many Americans just want to be able to afford to live.
  • No, I didn't hear that * And frankly: that doesn't make much sense to me. * Why would adding (basically) a tax to imports mean that Americans would be faced with higher tax rates? I mean, sure: if your sales tax on a $10 Chinese product is $1, and now (because of the tariff) that same Chinese product costs $20, then sure: you're going to pay $2 sales tax on that product...but the sales tax RATE is the same. And of course that's not going to add to income tax or property tax at all. In fact: with the increased income that states and etc. make from sales tax on higher-priced products, you'd think that hikes in sales tax are unlikely to happen.
  • your making up bs. Show us a link that says this
  • Tax is paid by domestic companies importing goods, hence the tax will be passed onto the consumer, you're right. .
