The most famous case I know is the guy who played Baretta...and one of the Little Rascals (Mickey, who eventually became the lead character, replacing Spanky). Robert Blake. His wife was shot. Although Blake was acquitted, the fact that two different stunt men both testified that he had offered them money to kill his wife pretty much convinces me that he did have her killed (that he found someone who agreed to his offer - I don't think he did it himself). * On the other hand, with the "reasonable doubt" rule in such trials, I have to say that I probably would have acquitted him if I was on the jury. The evidence was simply too circumstantial.
