  • If our puppy is less playful due to being spayed, I'd be scared to see her when she wasn't spayed now. ^.^ So I wouldn't worry about it.
  • No they will be just as playfull as they were before they got spayed.
  • That has never been my experience. None of the dogs I've had ever calmed down or changed in anyway, really, after being spayed or neutered except that they no longer wanted to breed.
  • No. I have a 1yo who used to run my 9yo ragged and she's still as hyperactive as ever - only thing different, she used to be a small / extremely picky eater - now she eats everything - fruits, vegetables, rice, etc and in large amounts so she's put on some weight. Which Im really happy about. PS: She's still as affectionate as ever, initiates the older dog to a play fight three times a day and NEVER turns down an invitation to play from either human or dog.
  • Spayed, less playful, no, however having a male neutered will change his personalty.
  • to reply to fox happy....getting your male dog fixed does not change their personality or "who they are" one bit.... however you will notice a change in their behavior and activeness....meaning, they tend to calm down giving theirselves a "grown" attitude and not being as playful or rowdy as they once were but as far as personality they will still be the same lovable dog as before.
  • My dog was just as happy and playful, but he did calm down a little bit.
  • My cats have always been playful when spayed or neutered. They will have a tendency to put on a little bit more weight but other than that, the yowling, spraying and attempts to escape will stop or never manifest themself and its a blessing.
  • It didn't calm either one of my dogs down.
  • Had Taz done last year. It certainly didn't make her less playful & mischievious
