  • I think it does. Every culture has its own code of morality, and none of them are 100% identical. Animals often live and die by their own rules. I believe that at least some animals have their own code that they share with others of the same species. Just as a bee will sting and die for the protection of its hive, other animals very often protect their own social groups even if it has profound consequences for the animal itself. But, since we don't really understand these actions, we call it the nature of the animal rather than a conscious code it follows.
  • Another, potentially trite-sounding answer: Since humans have defined morality as something they exhibit, and humans are animals, animals are bound by morality.
