Why does it seem that Subway fast food places are shutting down?
Two Subways in Monongahela PA and Monessen PA. Have gone out of business.
These two Cities are not far from each other .

IDK, it seems to me like they are always closing their stores. About 4-5 years ago, they closed a store here, then opened a new one on the same road less than a half mile away a few months later.

The owners I used to work for got divorced. So did her sister who also owned some subways with her husband. Covid was hard on restaurants. But nowadays when you can order whatever you want delivered why would anyone OPEN a brick and mortar restaurant of any sort? Its outdated. Now is when they should automate the sandwich production. Yeah, a few workers might be out of a job, but its a job no one likes doing. And automation would make all the burgers uniform, and reduce waste and food cost. And if you add back in the delivery you'd be adding jobs... until robots start doing that. And they will always need a supervisor and a mechanic, etc. There is so much excitement in the future! People need to quit crying over what's past and get excited about what the future holds!

I don't know what it's like in AB, but, here in VT, many folks will run after a drone to shoot it down when they see it. Most of the maps of our areas are so bad that no one even bothers testing self-driving cars here. Our Subway sandwich shops are never slow - they were super busy even during covid, since they started offering to bring your sandwich to your car in the parking lot if you ordered online. -

Most are franchises and the owners do not know how to run a profitable business.
