  • Well...that depends. If your ancestors are spiritual beings that watch over you and respond (in a beneficial way) to prayers, then: yes. Otherwise: no.

  • The Bible clearly states: "Thou shall have no Gods before me". "Gods" doesn't just mean "a superior being" - it means worshipping (or praying to) anyone but Him. Catholics pray to graven images as emissaries of God - people who they believe are in Heaven - Mother Mary, the various saints, etc. This violates the 1st Commandment on both fronts (making graven images and praying to them). They aren't in Heaven anyway - that too is a misconception.
