  • Rock and Roll music of the 50's and 60's was "dangerous." It was about innuendo and dancing and all sorts of things parents hated. Part of the danger was a reckless lifestyle that, for many rock stars, ended in choking on vomit. By destroying things, the amount of danger could be displayed in visually concrete ways, and what other items would be handy to a rock musician during a concert than music equipment?
  • It started back in the eighties by the Who. Roger Daltry had finished playing a set and he felt like smashing his guitar against the stage. The audience loved it and thereafter they had to spend thousands of dollars for new equipment every show. Not only that but other groups copied it.
