Since the age of consent in the US is 16, why is Matt Gaetz facing problems
The age of consent for sex in most states is 16 and 13, 14 and 15 year olds can consent with someone not more 4-5 years their senior (Romeo and Juliet or close in age consemption). Gaetz didn't break any laws because the girl was over 16. What are they investigating him for?

The age of consent in Florida is 18. The states vary on this subject. Moreover, it doesn't matter what the AOC is if we're talking about interstate trafficking for sexual purposes. And I might point out, Gaetz wouldn't qualify for any "Romeo and Juliet/close in age" exemption. He is too old.
