• The term 'weed' refers to pulling weeds from among the crop, so the crop won't be robbed of nutrients by the weeds that grow among them. The same analogy is represented when one says 'sift the wheat from the chaff' which refers to sifting wheat to separate the wheat, the good usable part of the crop from the chaff, which is a shell that is discarded. It simply means separating the good from the bad.
