  • i hate it. my pops loves it. i concur.
  • I don't know anybody that drinks it. I once heard a comedian say that he didn't drink it because of the way the glass looked after he was done drinking it. But we use it for baking a lot. Pancakes, biscuits, other things.
  • I've never drank buttermilk. I've only used it in recipes.
  • I usually use it in making cornbread but it tastes kind of like plain yougurt. Actually tastes pretty good.
  • Well you know, I'm 51 and I've started drinking buttermilk mostly because I like the texture and taste. It's really like liquid plain yogurt. I don't think you can buy the real thing anymore (it was the fermented milk left over after allowing the cream to rise and separate for making butter (hence the name). It is easier to digest, so that may be why you associate with older people...it's easier on the stomach. But to your question....I think your tastes become more varied and refined as you get older. I'll equate it to learning to drink alcohol...most people start out with beer or sweet drinks like rum and coke because the sweet masks the taste of the alcohol. I don't know many people my age who drink sweet alocohol drinks because you learn to appreciate the taste of the alcohol itself.
  • No I don't drink it but it is great for soaking chicken before frying and for making biscuits.
  • I'm a 21 year old girl -- and I've loved drinking this stuff since I was a child. It absolutely grosses out many of the people whom I know. But who knows. I also like drinking tomato juice; I like to eat plain sauerkraut. Something about the sour/salty taste. So yes, buttermilk drinkers do exist. :)
  • You mean women can drink it too?
  • That is the only one I have ever seen drink buttermilk, is an old man. I cant stand it, it is disgusting.
  • I'm an old man(58), and i never had it. I like the flavor of buttermilk biscuits, so i probably would like it. But then i like all kinds of foods that i didn't like when i was younger. When you are young, and they say "variety is the spice of life", they are talking about sex. When you get old, "food" is what they are talking about.
  • I understand that it's an acquired taste. If it is, I haven't acquired it.
  • No, I drink half & half. "The Younger Milk":)
  • Yes, I drink it and have since I can remember. Most of the people I know won't touch the stuff, but I have always liked it. Two of my kids like it too, the other two can't stand it. I will not make cornbread, buscuits or pancakes without it.
  • no way, no how, no where!!
  • You're right. My dad used to love buttermilk and cornbread.
  • Older men do enjoy it. I don't really like it however.
  • I have loved buttermilk since I was knee-high to a grasshopper! I love the stuff (especially in a glass with good old warm cornbread mixed in!
