• It doesn't stand for anything, it's just an initial. A lot of people did that at one time to make themselves sound more interesting.

      I read somewhere that he added the "B." middle initial to distinguish himself from all of the other Benoit Mandlebrots out there. I do think it would be more interesting if the "B." stood for "Benoit B. Mandlebrot," though, being that he was the father of fractal geometry.
