  • When my son was two years old he asked me "Why is it milk?" Over the years I've decided the best answer to that is this "Because everything has a name and the name given that is milk" Its called Canada because that's its name.

  • Demonyms are weird. Why are people from Denmark called Danish? Do they hate the letter e? Do they dislike "Mark?" Maybe Mark got voted out and replaced by Dane? If men from Michigan are called "Michiganders," are the women there called "Michigeese?" Why are people from Indiana called Hoosiers?

      Yes. There are a lot of Iroquois-Huron languages, but in Mohawk, "Kanata" means town, I'm sure it is at least similar in similar languages.
