  • Through mouth.
  • I don't consider jello 'unconventional'. Its at every pot luck and on every hospital tray I've ever eaten from. I'd say 'unconventional' (for Americans) is bat, pangolins, civet cat an monkey! I'd also never want to try balut, casu marzu or moose head. I prefer food I cook myself at home, even if I didn't have all the dietary restrictions that make it more healthy. Sometimes its as simple as a piece of produce, but I've cooked and served for thousands. Not usually anything fancy, but I do get creative in the kitchen at times. More so when I have others with which to share.

Jello is a little weird if you think about it. You boil down a bunch of random skin and bones and cartilage, until it's goo, then dry the goo in an oven until it's powder. Then add lots of sugar, dye, and artificial fruit flavouring. Then add boiling water and chill until it's a blob of goo again. Very common in the USA, but still sounds strange to me. I'd say casu marzu is weird unless you are from a very specific isolated island. I've never tried bat, pangolin, civet cat, nor monkey, but I went through a phase in which I ate all sorts of other animals, trying to find one that I enjoyed eating, and eventually gave up.

I didn't say it wasn't weird! I mean, really! A solid on the plate and a liquid at body temp! But its not a lot different than powdered milk or butter. Its more fun to play with! Watch it wiggle, see it jiggle!
