Fear not is in The Bible between 350 and 400 times! How did you miss it? It looks like Creamcrackered has several listed. Here are a few: Fear not, for I am with thee, Gen. 26:24 (Isa. 41:10). The Lord is with us: fear them not, Num. 14:9. Fear not: for they that be with us are more, 2 Kgs. 6:16. I will not fear what flesh can do, Ps. 56:4. Fear not the reproach of men, Isa. 51:7 (2 Ne. 8:7). God hath not given us the spirit of fear, 2 Tim. 1:7. Perfect love casteth out fear, 1 Jn. 4:18
  • No, it's part and parcel of the human condition, but God said to place all your fears on him. Having watched the news far too much over the last few days I was frightened and couldn't sleep, so I turned off my television and picked up my bible, read a couple of passages chosen at random which was 1 Corinthians 15:12-58 and slept. Here are a few on fear... 2 Tim 1:7 For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self discipline. Deut 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Psalms 34:4 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Joshua 1: 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Romans 8:38 -39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
  • Yes. Only those weak in faith and good deeds are stricken with fear and panic. It's why Muslims don't even fear terrorists or Americans.
  • No. Which is why the bible is so long. People tend to go back to sin, after the panic and fear of a punishment subsides.

Hmm, and yet others have felt the need to plagiarize off the Bible and make it longer with counterfeit writings?
  • There is no place in the Old or New Testaments of fear or panic being a sin. The Bible commands us to love our neighbour as ourselves.

Fear not is in the Bible between 350 and 400 times. Are the words of God not commandments? Do your fuck your mother books tell you the words of God are just suggestions?
  • We are human and are weak. We all sin since Adam's fall. There is a healthy fear of God that we all should have. (Matthew 10:28) And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, fear him who can destroy both soul and body in Ge·henʹna. (Deuteronomy 6:13) Jehovah your God you should fear, and him you should serve, and by his name you should swear. (2 Kings 17:39) But it is Jehovah your God whom you should fear, as he is the one who will rescue you out of the hand of all your enemies.” (Isaiah 8:13, 14) Jehovah of armies—he is the One you should regard as holy, He is the One you should fear, And he is the One who should cause you to tremble.” 14 He will become as a sanctuary, But as a stone to strike against And as a rock to stumble over To both houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare To the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ... ... There will be a time when there will be no more sickness and no one making us have unhealthy fear... (Isaiah 33:24) And no resident will say: “I am sick.” The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error. .. (Micah 4:3, 4) He will render judgment among many peoples And set matters straight respecting mighty nations far away. They will beat their swords into plowshares And their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, Nor will they learn war anymore.  4 They will sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, And no one will make them afraid, For the mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken.

You're the one who doesn't know, you google it! I've read The Bible.
  • Off the top of my head, 3 great spiritual masters (John of the Cross and Lorenzo Scupoli and Pere de Caussade) advise us to never lose our calmness -- add to that the advice of St Benedict to never despair.
