  • Your question is conditional, so it answers itself.
  • Joshua 24:15 helps us to understand that each of us can choose for ourselves whom we serve. Basically, you can pray to whomever you’d like. I choose to pray to the God Almighty, the same God that Jesus chose to pray to, Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18, Mat 6:9, Jn 17:3)
  • Satan is only being allowed temporary dominion, he will be destroyed soon. (1 John 5:19) We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. (Luke 4:6) Then the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and their glory, because it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. (John 12:31) Now there is a judging of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. John 14:30 I will not speak with you much more, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has no hold on me. (2 Corinthians 4:4) among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through. (Luke 10:18) At that he said to them: “I see Satan already fallen like lightning from heaven. (Revelation 12:9) So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. (Genesis 3:15) And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring. He will crush your head, and you will strike him in the heel.” (1 John 3:8) The one who practices sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest, to break up the works of the Devil.
  • Sometime around 1700, Captain William Kidd might or might not have buried one or more parcels of treasure somewhere in North America worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in the present day. If I told you that I knew broad GPS coordinates where the treasure was located, without showing any proof, do you think I could get millions of people to believe me and then devote their time and resources into digging around those coordinates to split up the treasure? Of course not. But, this is exactly how religion works. No one has any physical proof that any religion is correct. As far as gods, we know that there exists some number of gods between zero and infinity, and we know that, if there is at least one god, he, she, or it, might or might not have a name. He she or it might or might not answer prayer. A religious leader, who knows nothing about this, will tell you the name of the god and how to pray, and guarantee that it will have zero verifiable effect on your life. This religious leader will ask you to devote your time, your energy, even your life, for the religion - all without even a greater-than-zero confidence level that the religion you are about to die for is at all correct.

Of course not.] Exactly, no one would believe that. No evidence. That is the difference. Unfortunately, not everyone is open minded to evidence when it contradicts their preconceived ideas.

Religion is an example of a preconceived idea, not an example of a conclusion supported by physical evidence. What evidence is there that a supernatural being named Jehovah created the universe?

for one, as you said, could not get millions of people to believe devote their time and resources. obviously, that happened. Could also look at creation and read the Bible. Of course, some think just billions of years can make answer everything, no evidence or reasoning needed, just POOF!

Are you referring to the big bang? The big bang is what the evidence says, and it makes no conjecture of its own cause. The reason for such is that the bang itself destroyed whatever evidence there was of whatever came before. No one who is taken seriously in the field of cosmology is saying that they have all of the answers. The Bible is no more evidence of a God named Jehovah than Marvel Comics are evidence of a spiderman named Peter Parker. And the main reason people don't believe God saying "Let there be light" WAS the big bang is that there are numerous problems with the accounting of time between the science book and the Bible.

When you think about it the big bang isn't much different to the bible creation only that it removes the cause. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And as much as you want to remove God from creation, many scientists had no problem with believing in God, this was from the basic fact that when they studied the world around them they saw something that was orderly, that had a pattern a design which required a form of intelligence a designer.

Creamcrackered, we are in agreement that the Big Bang offers no evidence against the existence of God. But it does offer a model that is inconsistent with the narrative given in Genesis chapter one, if the Bible is read literally. For example, had humans in their current form been created literally six days after the Big Bang, the universe would have still been too hot for us to survive. If we want to wave away any literal interpretation with our hands, then, perhaps, it is up to the readers of the Bible to decide which stories are literal and which are allegorical.
  • If you were to pray to the God of this world you would be praying to Satan. 1 John 5:19 tells us that we originate with God but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. That wicked one is non other than Satan the devil. In 2 Cor 4:4 the god of this world is trying to keep people from knowing the truth about Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ. Therefore he is blinding their minds of individuals. For more information on this subject please visit jworg.
  • You're confused. Men are not blinded out of spite.
  • Spiritual blindness is a condition of being unable to understand God's message. People who are spiritually blind do not need to pray to Satan. Rather, people praise themselves for their looks and success, which leads to vanity. It’s like considering yourself as a Deity, and it is what the Bible describes as "lovers of themselves." John 5:44 "How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?"

But why are people blinded, spiritually? Brought to you by Carl's Jr.

Quote: "Brought to you by Carl's Jr." Uhh, you haven't brought anything, but asked a question that has been answered with biblical reference. Really, you don't want to argue with me, cause you'll get verbally corrected and you know it. You might do good arguing with the Jehovah's Witnesses, but not with this Adventist. If you are itching for a verbal fight, let's do it. Last person standing wins. It's just my way, and my way only. :D

First of all to start this debate, go back and re-read my answer. Praise is when someone expresses admiration by his or her achievements or characteristics of a person or thing. Unbelievers are spiritually blind. Jesus is already making a statement in John 8:44: "How can people believe in God's message when vanity overpowers them? It's not happening. Psalm 10:4 "In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek Him; all his thoughts are, There is no God."

You didn't say why people are this way, you just said how they are that way. If you don't know why, there's no shame in admitting it. Argument is sometimes good for the mind, and it's all about two people verbally correcting each other and, with some luck, each person involved is learning something. I admire the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, even if I disagree with theism in general. The church teaches nifty things like humility and avoiding condescension.

I apologize for my apparent snarkiness in the earlier comment. It seemed like a funny movie quote in my head, but now that I read it back, it sounds rude. That wasn't my intention.

Quote: "You didn't say why people are this way, you just said how they are that way." Actually I gave the reason how vanity prevents people from knowing God's message. Not only in my answer or in your question, once again vanity leads to: “I love myself so much. I praise myself. I adore myself, etc. This is why people are spiritually blinded and can't see "the light of the Gospel" that represents humbleness.

As for your admiration in regards to the SDA church, it is notorious for following a variety of dietary restrictions so believers can feel good about themselves in a stressed-out world, fight obesity, illnesses and other health problems to live longer, often to more than 100 years old. No worries of your Carl's Jr remark. You simply felt free to speak your mind.
  • Since I am a very sharing person, I will share another answer for the simple-minded. The prayer of worship is similar to the prayer of thanksgiving. In a materialistic culture, it implies how superficial things are fulfilling and bringing happiness to people's lives. This is why it is not a surprise to know whose glory are they seeking after all.
  • Sadly even tho I was raised in Lutheran church cause mom made us go I have now come to understand there is no GodI ts only practiced ny humans who need to believe in something as life goes by but when you show me some actual PROOF of anything in the Bible I would feel differently however not one single thing can be proven and thats why its called Theology That word comes from the word THEORY which means it cannot be PROVEN and as a man who once was saying my prayers and asking for strength and guidance after thanking God for all my blessings instead of getting strength and guidance I got hurt at work Broken Neck Back and Ribs and flown into HaarboriewHospital in Seattle and have been suffering with partial paralisys and damaged spinal cord with chronic pain and a dreadful existance then after all the preachers telling me and others to PRAY its a farce my proof of that is watching what the Germans did to 6 million JEWS and I can guarantee you they were all PRAYING and look how their prayers got ignored SEE Science is all thats real and can be proven and will always exist when there is no RELIGION So its all about mankind being afraid of death which is reality and no Kingdom of Heaven or Hell exist except for the HELL we endure on this earth and its nearly all created ny mankind like war and pain
