  • Linda, I am not promoting child molestation as it is defined today. I was only discussing what was done in the Bible and was required in Old Testament times. (Numbers 31:17,18) Life was very different then as compared to life today. Don't go twisting what I said as my main source of information is the Bible and other research on this subject. Or do you now reject the Bible as a reliable source of life?

I see my original question on this subject has been removed due to a lack of understanding what I asked from the Bible. If I ask or comment on a question my answer has Biblical research behind it.

One of the biggest problems I have found about "churched Christians" is they hear something from the pulpit or from their peers and take it as gospel truth. One of the biggest used so often by "churched Christians" is Leviticus 18:22. They accept this verse out of context not knowing the true meaning of the verse attacking a whole group of society when the meaning is actually very limited to a specific pagan group. I am appalled at the number of Christians who have little to no idea as to what the Bible says in so many instances. To top that is most have no intentions of learning the truth for themselves.

Homosexual behaviour was considered an abomination, which comes from the word taboo. There are two reasons for this 1) it was considered unnatural, for in Genesis God made Adam, and took Eve from his side, hence when man leaves his parents he is to cleave with his wife and the two become one flesh which is why Adam recognised Eve as "flesh of my flesh, bone of my bones" ie like they were in the creation, and as such they can naturally conceive. this is also echoed in Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. 2) Homosexuality, was often seen in the pagan temples especially those of the Goddess. In Rome even though homosexuality was frowned on it was permitted as was paedophiler, where bearded men were often seen with young boys.

Well I will give you credit for a mostly correct answer but you missed it in some places. Your 2) is the closest. Actually there is no place in the Bible that condemns adult consensual homosexuality without twisting the verses that mention it. These verses deal mostly with homosexuality in pagan worship and pederasty. This is mostly information from the book, "God Is Not A Homophobe" by Philo Thelos.

Well, let's put Romans 1 in its context... For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonouring of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. For this reason God gave them over to dishonourable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them. Continued..

I also searched Philo Thelos real name Darwin Chandler who writes...My Christian parents raised me to believe that hard-line fundamentalist Christianity is the only “right” religion in existence. I began preaching that “faith” at age 21, and continued 40 years. I earned a BA degree in Theology, and advanced toward a Masters degree until the increasing inanity of the required courses made me quit. But I had studied Biblical Greek and Hebrew enough to be able to do in-depth research into the Biblical text. My daily practice was to spend 8 hours a day, five days a week, in my office studying the Bible. I believed it was inspired by god, infallible, and therefore warranted the most exhaustive study possible. I read the Bible cover to cover countless times. Twice, in my daily morning devotionals, I prayed over every verse in the Bible, begging god for understanding for myself and for those I taught. I preached on nearly every verse in the New Testament, and hundreds in the Old Testament. This hard-nosed study brought totally unexpected results. To my dismay I began realizing that much of the Bible’s contents are ridiculous. God’s character and behavior are horrific. Historical, geographical, and scientific errors abound. Contradictions are too numerous to list. The Bible makes promises that are never fulfilled. Its promise of answered prayer is specifically and notoriously false. After years of trying to ignore the growing mountain of such facts, I did what I knew I must: I began to study these matters in depth, expecting to find answers favorable to religion. But the more I studied, the more doubt grew. As doubt increased, so did my determination to find answers. My wife and I prayed for hours together, begging god to help us, to stop our slide into unbelief. No help came. The inevitable occurred. We admitted to each other that it is all a lie. I quit preaching and we took our flight from deception 14 years ago. It cost the loss of family, friends and livelihood. But finding truth more than compensates for the loss. Knowing there are many, including thousands of preachers, who are trapped in the same spiritual dilemma of doubt versus belief, I can hope to provide a path of escape from the deception of religion for those who can dare attempt it. And possibly I may provide additional fuel for those who simply want to fight the absurdity of religion. That’s me. And that’s why I am on the web. I hope you benefit from my efforts.
