Also referred to as an adversary or stumbling block, this conflict is what drives the virtue to overcome obstacles, or the failure to do so. By way of simile, without "friction" in life we would have no purpose just as a car tire would have no function without the friction of the road to push against.

This led me to think of Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water." Also, Hebrews 2:18 Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted. Since I am reading Hebrews it popped into my head.

Nope and it's a minority view you have. Most Jews believe in the entity of a Satan, rather than just the "inclination" - which is mostly a kabbalah view.

No. Satan is a real spirit person. A son of God, whose job it is to tempt us.
