I'm not eligible for a grant from the United Negro College Fund based solely on the fact that I'm white. I'm not allowed to join the National Association of Hispanic Professionals bases solely on the fact that I'm white.
  • I have been looked at differently in those black owned businesses that are located in rough neighborhoods. It's not that I wanted to drive through there and stop by at some stores. I was lost at the time without a GPS device or Google Maps to accurately find myself around a city I was visiting a little over a decade ago. Racism exists in human cultures who encounter each other.
  • Sure. I assume everyone has. And there were probably a few times I just thought it was discrimination when it was a valid concern. There have also been plenty of times people thought I was discriminating against them when it was in fact their own behavior and words that caused my response. Then again its not unreasonable to use statistics to reasonably predict behavior either. If you are looking at someone holding a weapon threatening you its not racial profiling and discrimination to disarm them.
