  • The same percentage voted to remain a US territory and 97% to become a US state. However, those results may have been skewed because 3/4 of voters did not participate, many because opposition parties advocated boycotting the ballot.

Maybe because they don't want independence.
  • She is American. Her father was American. Her mother is Puerto Rican. And she has already proved she doesn't care what the people want. She wants what she wants and doesn't care what anyone else wants!

Anything to push the "America is bad" agenda.

Be careful with this line of thinking. Were all Vietnam war protesters anti-American simply because they conflicted with government policy? Should every protester have been sent back to … where?
    • Linda Joy
Those who protest war unilaterally don't deserve the liberty it provides. And this question says nothing about sending anyone anywhere. To expound on what I said: If they think America is bad then why are they here? Just "because they conflicted with government policy" doesn't mean they should have spit on the soldiers that did their duty to protect their right to protest! Maybe its you who should be careful with your line of thinking!

  • I don't believe that she knows that, no. She doesn't know what the 3 branches of the federal government are, either, and she's actually in one of them. Puerto Rican independence would most likely be a disaster for Puerto Rico.
    • Archie Bunker
Agreed. Simple economics shows that Puerto Rico would not last on it's own. Probably why the vast majority of Puerto Ricans don't want it, despite what the ignorant politicians say. Unfortunately, the uninformed among us will read her headline and roll with it without bothering to get any facts.
