Tried-and-true or Brand-spankin-new? What are you more inclined to have?
Weather cars, laptops, clothes or other consumer goods.
For me i'm using a tried-and-true think pad which is also good for weight lifting : )

Most things I buy used. My desk top is used. Just clothes are new.

I get New, if I can, but try to do some research before purchase. I would point out that the research does take two forms; I ask myself if I really need the item, then check into the specifications.

I prefer "Tried-and-true". I've always believed it to be smarter to wait and see if something brand-spanking-new will stand up to the test or fall down like junk, before I invest my hard earned cash. I'll wait and see what's worth buying and what other people have gotten screwed on. By then improvements have probably been made, and prices have come down.
