Best Cheap Components for VR Capable PC?

Lately I have been looking into gaming/ VR capable PC's and how to build them. I would like to know what components I would need to build a decent VR and high performance computer, and whether I should build it myself, or get someone else to do it. I am kind of skeptical whether building it on my own will work because I have hear stories of it always going wrong and need to know if it is assured and if I could do it on my own or not.
