      "presence"
  • I just did. There were unrelated links in the answer. when I looked at that persons profile, all their other answers were these same links.
    • Ice man
Good one !! Looking at the unrelated links and the other Q's & A's on their profile is the best way to confirm their motive. Report the whole works.
  • (This is too long. You should go play Parchesi instead of reading it) ........Oh, the report button! That's what killed Yahoo Answers. Do we have any Y/A survivors here? Anyone who may have spent some time in the Polls & Surveys category? ("P&S") ...That's where, long ago (2008), people would post gag questions to illicit joke responses. A concentration of life's natural comics collected in one wonderful place of daily hilarity. But the report button! *sigh* It was there so Yahoo didn't have to hire moderators. -an automated system, which attracted a breed of subhumans called 'trolls', who quickly learned it could be used to decimate accounts (get them permanently disabled) ("suspended"). And then they'd fap and go tee hee a lot, I assume, like an arsonist celebrating what they've done. A growing climate of fear and suspicion began to permeate our once innocent society. We never knew WHO the trolls were, just that they were among us. They could be anyone. They could be our friends! Well, at first we all just kept 2 or 3 "backup accounts" ready for use when our current one would get shut off. And that worked, and we tried to continue. But the problem grew, and Yahoo would not help. (The "appeal" process was automated, so no human ever HEARD us asking for help.) Plus they thought of us P & S'ers as miscreants anyway, so why should they WANT to help us. (*Polls & Surveys was for posting actual polls, and surveys...and we were CONSTANTLY breaking the rules by posting gag questions and jokes. But it was the only category we could find that fit our needs. And Yahoo wouldn't make us our own category. So we were miscreants. (I've been called worse.) Well the other day I was looking in a folder of mementos I kept from that time (oh what fun that was. I used to play characters! I was Manbearpig, for one ...I told people, on my profile, that I was 14 feet tall; half man/half bear/ and half pig; and I lived in the woods, "hiding from Al Gore and a frightened public that just doesn't understand". I asked if they saw Al Gore to please warn me, and my questions were always absurd inquisitions about the best way to serve dead hiker meat, and would it be okay to make slippers from crushed baby ducks? And: why is my belly all hurty? All I ate was dead kiver stew, with leaves and pond water! (Manbearpig knows the value of proper nutrition. What the hell?) ...And for every silly thing I posted like that, another scolding from Yahoo in my e-mail, another point against my account (they add up till there are enough for a permanent ban, then poof! Account won't work anymore :( (Manbearpig was sad!) (Not even playin' my banjo for the squirrels and drinking tree stump whiskey could cheer me up that day :( Here I am Al gore! Come and get me. I give up! :( :( ...So, then I was The Soup Nazi. ...Then 'Shitty Wok' (take orda pree)... Then Butthead (Uuuh. uh huh! Uuuuh...) (That got me a few warnings, and another suspension) (Yahoo has no sense of humor.) Then I was DickHurtzFromHolden, and they thought I was making a dirty joke! (I was, but I still sent them an appeal explaining that my name really is Richard Hurtz, and I'm from the town of Holden, and discriminating against me over my name is cause for law suit!!!) (So naturally they caved immediately, apologized and sent me a box of cash. (Oh wait, no they DIDN'T do that. *sigh* ...Is there a point to this story? Eventually! :D (Okay now). I was looking in my memorabilia and found this you tube which any P&S'er would have found hilarious. And at the end they mentioned Answerbag. (Albeit disparagingly, and I apologize for that.) But I didn't know there was an Answerbag! And Yahoo Answers is dead. So here I am. And that's my long tedious story! Do you want the last 5 minutes of your life back? *blink blink* ..... (Would it help if Mr Pants said how pleased he is to find funny people again?) (Oh, I'm cereal!) (oops, that was left over Al Gore, in my brain somewhere) (well..this constant joking all adds up to a form of brain damage you know.) (You get used to it.) ......Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xaQ4kaSR40

The mentioned flag is for reporting advertising "spam", I don't worry about the rest. Otherwise .. welcome to our wacky group of jokers. Like I said elsewhere .. you fit right in, so have fun with your questions and answers. Oh, and to answer your question - yes there are people here that were regulars at Yahoo.
    • Mr PantsFellDown
Thank you Ice Man. When I saw what you and Beaker were doing, it really cracked me up. I think this place'd be a much better choice for a read in the morning (instead of the news, which makes Mr Pants think of tying a rope to the ceiling)(so I can hang a plant)(of course) *shifty look*
    • Ice man
Oooh myyyy gawd !! do you ever look like Richard Nixon when you do that ! ; )
    • Mr PantsFellDown
when I don't shave regularly, a bit. But the rumors of my faking my death so I could try and become president again under a new identity are true. No I mean false! yea that's it. .....*waves watch* "you didn't hear that. You think I might be actually Jimmy Carter, and you'd like some peanuts..."

How could stump whiskey not cure anything? It did for Howard (well, not exactly, but apparently, he didn't mind - and did seem to enjoy beating the hell out of cops).
  • Yes that is what it is for... But, I've never used it.

Just like on the old AB, spam leaks through the filters and gets annoying. If we flag them the admin is good about deleting the spam.

FYI for the Maria### handle the last 4 digits were changed for the second event(answer) to a question. If that filter were smart enough to record the links(being the same) would catch it be answer content.
    • Ice man
I reported the second batch (10) too.

NUNYA, the question asked do you use the report flag to report spam. Basically in a Yes or No question, you say Yes, but you've never used it. That's funny. lol
  • Yes, seeing spam is not helping this website improve.
  • Every social media site is going to get spam. It's something you have to put up with. The problem comes in when reporting is being done by people who are too easily offended by debate. These are the people who are shaping censorship. I could easily rattle off a dozen or more words that were never deemed "offensive" just a decade ago but have now hit the top of the PC charts. Life is hard, but it's even harder when you're stupid. If you can't handle it, don't ruin it for everyone else because it will eventually affect you, and by that time, it will be too late to stop it. Look at the aftermath of the 2020 election as an example. "Build Back Better" has turned into a train wreck in just a few short months. There have been no "mistakes" made - they were intentional and designed to inflict as much damage as possible. You apologize for making mistakes - you don't pass the blame to someone else.
  • Yes, but I usually warn people first.
  • I have done for posts that are actually adverts & once when a now ex-user was making offensive and abusive comments about a user.
