  • 1-12-2017 Classicism might mean a lot of things, but basically it mean ancient Greek and Roman styles: all stories were either comedies (the hero lived) or tragedies (the hero died). That was eventually expanded to include the epic, where the hero runs around doing heroic stuff. Then came a new style, called romance because it was mostly in countries where the language was derived from Roman. That meant a happy ending. In modern times we have added the science fiction story, and that pretty much covers the literary universe.
  • Not sure which discipline you want this applied to. Romanticism emphasizes the individual and individual expression. While classicism is more about general structure and balance. Romanticism would be more subjective, classicism more objective. This is very general.
