I want to date this guy but not sure what to do. What should I do? Please answer.

I like this guy and don't know how to go about getting him to ask me out or me asking him out. I'm super shy until you get to know me. At church we have 3 different bible study groups and we're in different ones but all in about the same age groups. Sometimes our groups gets together but not that much so I never see him. I don't go to church on sundays either because of my busy schedule. I am friends with him on Facebook and want to get to know more about him. What should I do?

  I did message him on Facebook and now we're talking but it went short. I said hey he replied with hey and then I asked how it was goin. He then answered and asked the same question and I said great and never asked a question back. What should I do now? I want to message him but idk what today and it's late. I probably should just do it tomorrow when I get off work

Talk to him of FB and ask him things about himself. If he seems more interested then suggest getting together with him to do something like coffee or dinner or hanging out or a movie.

  That's a good idea. I know a few things about him but not a lot. We've only hung out in groups like 3 times so I never got to talk to him direct. I'm wanting to learn more about him though

  I've messaged him and we talked but it was super short I think it's my fault. We said hey and how's it going to each other but I said great as the answer and did not do a follow up question which I'm horriable at follow up questions even on the phone. Should I message him again even though it was yesterday when I started talking to him? What should I say if you don't mind helping me out. I know you can't tell me everything to say but what question should I say to get the conversation back up again?
