Should be taken only as a compliment. my wife of 40 years, is a wonderful person. this is her language. she calls everyone sweetheart and its just her great personality. if the lady is truly interested in you, other signs will appear that will perk-up your ears. in the meantime, cool it! its just the conversation of some people.

I say it, when I mean it. If I told you that you were sweet, then that would definately be a compliment, and that you did something to get my attention. If someone likes you, then there would be other signs, not just a your sweet comment.

I'm going to be negative on this because thats just the way I am. Women speak out of two sides of their mouth sometimes with this. Any girl that has ever called me sweet would not even consider dating me. (Which has been most girls) Anytime I hear that from a girl I immediatly know all she wants is me to be her friend and occasional shoulder.

i think its both a compliment and a knock-back first its nice when they say you are sweet but, in my experience anyway, its a polite way of tellin you they aint lookin for no one to go out with

saying you are sweet is a great compliment, however, it does not guarantee a "yes" when/if you ask her out. it can mean either she likes you like a brother (one thing that alot of guys, including myself, hate when you actually love the woman) or it can mean "wow, i never realised how sensitive you are, i want to know you better" thats my understanding of it anyway.

You should take it as a compliment about how she feels about your personality, but not necessarily an indication that she wants more out of your relationship. If you make yourself available to her and never get more than the 'sweet' comments, she's not interested in more than friendship. If you get more compliments or other signals, try asking her out. She may be indicating interest in a non-threatening way to avoid rejection.

I think it depends on the woman. I mean somebody is telling me quite often that I am sweet, or the sweetest because I was a gentleman and drive her into the city or helped her. (and I know her only approx. 1 months). If I ask if I can come to her appartment, she says that I am very welcome, she hopes to see me soon and want to cook for me (because I helped her). Furthermore, she gives me some kisses/hugs. In this case I think that she finds me attractive and wants eventually more. All what I want to say is: it depends if she says only something with "sweet", or if other signs exist. Women are so difficult to understand ;)

It means that if you are single, you are the person she would like to marry, since you remind her of her dad. How do i know? i have been told this before.

It means you have in some way shon yourself to be a kind compassionate and caring individual and it is their way of letting you know. If they keep making other comments along with it that could be an indication of interest on their part and they are just to shy to come out and admit it.

I usually take this to mean - Move on Loser! - there are exceptions to this however.

If someone can take the time and make the effort to offer me a word or act of kindness,helpfulness, thoughtfulness, compassion or consideration - I will consider they are "so sweet" as opposed to "so sour" and I will say so :))
