Sprang? Sprained*? If its a Sprain, then It shoudlnt be too bad. The problem is it might be worse han you think it is. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/fact/thr_report.cfm?Thread_ID=152 http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/sprainedankle.htm You can wait it out, and see if swelling starts to go down, or pain eases, but if it doesnt seem to get much better over time, then definately see a doctor then, if you dont see one Right away. Its up to you what you do, Ultimately you should survive the experience no matter what you choose, the only difference if you see a doctor or not, is a small fee, and how long you may take to heal (potentially years, if you leave a severe injury untreated). Edit: So yeah. I reccomend you go to a doctor, sharpish. But its up to you.

You should probably get the ankle X-rayed just to make sure that no more severe damage has been done (fracture, torn ligament, etc.) Other than that, the doctor will tell you the usual RICE treatment (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Alternatively, you could just do the RICE treatment yourself for a week or so and see what happens. If it doesn't significantly improve, then see the doctor. If you do wait and it turns out to me more serious than a sprain, you may cause your recovery time to be longer. My father walked around on a fractured ankle for 3 days, which led to his being in a cast for 10 weeks rather than 4-6 weeks. Good luck.

You should go to see a podiatrist to get a x-ray to make sure nothing is broken. The best way to take care of it is to get a walking boot and a compressive ankle wrap from the doctor. Wear the boot + sock for 5-7 days so it immobilizes the ankle and then wean off the boot and go to just the sock. Then get a referral to PT to rehab the ankle. The entire time - keep the ankle iced and elevated. Hope this helps!
