  • Yes when I see the maltreatment of our fellow beings and how some of us maltreat animals, it makes me ashamed.
  • Aye..tis overrated.
  • I'm not a human, but I think most humans are dumb, and they're so dumb they don't know how dumb they are! They think they're so smart.
  • Every time I watch the evening news.
  • Not ashamed as much sad that we are destroying the wonderful planet we live in and constantly pollute our minds with negative images produced by the media. We need to stop thinking inside the box that society has created and starting thinking outside of our own box.
  • Not sometimes. All the time.
  • Sure glad I'm only half.
  • well yes like look at bees they can fly we cant
  • No. I'm more ashamed of the things we do rather than our being.
  • All the time as, being human is ordinary....Bodhisattva, now that's another story! :)
  • Yes. We tend to be very selfish, destructive and I think the rest of the animals on Earth would vote us off if they could.
  • Yes!! But, I try to be one of the good ones. Enough of the good guys banding together can lessen the strong hold of the ignorant, lazy, hateful, and evil humans!
  • Yeah sometimes I wish I was a Duck Billed Platypuss.
  • Yes, every time I hear about another species of animal on Earth that is now extinct. All the senseless murders and wars. When poachers are killing Gorillas in Africa and the park rangers who are trying to protect them. When the situation in Darfur is ignored by so many nations. It goes on and on I'm afraid.
  • The qualifier "sometimes" allows me to say yes -- sometimes-- but for the most part I like humanity, and try to understand and like other people. Yes, sometimes it's impossible, like radical Muslim movement. But, on the whole, I am not ashamed to be human.
  • After tonights questions .. Yes Deffo!
  • I look to the other side of humanity, the good, the compassionate, the courageous, and I know that we have possibilities. There are always nay-sayers, folks who see only the mud--they're the ones who walk with their heads down, looking in the gutter and finding only dirt. They're the ones who see the negative before the positive. They're the complainers, the whiners, the critical ones. But there are others who always keep their heads up, their eyes on the stars, and their feet on the ground. They're the ones that I try to pal around with.
  • No, not at all, not for a moment. Why would I be? Are you? If so, what have done?
  • Were not perfect for sure. As long as your genuine and move forward in a positive direction and try as well as you can to promote the goodness humanity has to offer, despite your fears you will have very little to be ashamed of. If you are deluded into the type of weak minded thinking that wants to tear down that which holds up the human sense of shame then you can also derive a feeling of no shame, and do any negative thing you want. If you feel shame over something at least you know you still have a soul and a heart and can make corrections to your life path accordingly. Humans make mistakes, the good ones see the light (have a good conscious) and push on with their chin up in the end, making the world a better place for all. Don't let the lesser (those that tear down what is good in the world) of our species and the negative get you down!
  • Sometimes. I look at pedophiles and animal abusers...and wonder .
  • Yes, at least once a day. AT LEAST. People do the stupidest, cruelest, most disgusting things ever. It's no wonder some people snap and start snipering from rooftops. Humans are selfish, horrible creatures alot of the time.
  • I am ashamed when I see people complaining about what they don't have, or when you try and help someone and they don't take your advice because they don't think your advice works, btu then they do eventually and don't apologize. I am ashamed when I see people fritter their lives away on the internet.
  • No, I am ashamed of what humans do/have done often.
  • I'm proud of being human.
  • Every day.
  • No never.
  • I agree that 'sometimes' is the key word to add. At this particular time, I feel extremely ashamed to be human, to the point that I've realized that I'm looking for something unrealistic: something/someone supernatural to reassure me of my goodness. Seeing a human psychiatrist doesn't seem to help, because it's another human. And it's difficult for me to be thoroughly convinced of the truth, that we are just complex creatures who are neither totally good nor totally bad. It's everything from the news to children's movies (where humans are the animals' enemies or bad guys) to works of literature to first-hand experiences that make it too easy for some people to see only the bad parts of humanity. It could be construed that I'm one of the bad guys, who isn't open enough to embrace the good in people. I'm surrounded by friends and loved ones with good hearts...so why can't I convince myself of human goodness? I'm very damnable for not believing in Anne Frank's words "In spite of everything, I still believe people are good at heart." I don't. :( I am ashamed, and I only hope that one day I'll undergo some kind of Kafkaesque metamorphosis in the night, and become a tree, a rock, or an animal. Something that is unable to do "bad." I'm sorry if I'm not being any help. Take heart in the fact that there are LOTS of people out there who readily understand where you're coming from and feel the same way. Maybe if we keep enough shame in ourselves, we'll be able to ward off any sense of blind pride in our humanity, and be able to do some good in the world. I hope. *hugs you gently* Please take good care of yourself. Do something nice and random for somebody. That'll be something good. Sincerely, Marc
  • Yes many many times I have been ashamed of humans. It seems to get worse with the direction of our society.
  • I am always ashamed to be Human. Look at what we've done, not to each other, but to everything else, you know we are one of the only species on the planet that destroy it on such a grand scale. We don't coexist with the environment, we change it to suit us, we destroy it to further our own greed. We have such potential as a species to save this world and everything in it, our intelligence alone would suggest that. But we got lost somewhere along the way, the penalty to other species that cross us is astounding. If an animal kills a human then that animal is deemed unfit to live, we hunt it down and kill it and any other of the same animal we find. Gives us an excuse to kill.(by we I mean the entire human race) Who cares if we all die, I consider humans a parasite to this world, myself included. (One of the only other lifeforms on this planet that acts like us is cancer. We are like a cancer to this planet). Yes I am an animal lover, but i am also a Life lover, and the atrocities that we have done, are doing, and will inevitably do in the future will forever make me ashamed of what we are, what we have became.
