  • Rib cage Can be rather painful because of all the ribs you work over. However it offers a fairly large area, and can be incorporated into a major back piece, wrapping around toward the front. i dont have one on my ribs myself but because noone answered the question i found this info on the internet
  • if you are worried about it hurting too bad to be worh it, then dont do it dude! haha it is about the journey and the experience and the history behind the tattoo to me, i have my enire right side done in linework and part of my hip and they all have meaning and were worth the pain to me feet tattoos hurt like hell and so did the one on my hip, but no matter what you get remember it will probably not be pleasant :) good luck on the deciding though!
  • i got a big koi fish going from my hip up to 4 inches below my armpit, i have loads of other tattoos but he ribs were by far the most uncomfortabl, you can almost feel the machines vibrations right through your lungs and ribcage its a very strange feeling compared with the other tattoos i have.
  • It hurts like hell! but, hey! It only hurts once..and then you have the tattoo forever!
  • I was thinking about getting one.. but i think its goin to hurt... i got one on my lower back and that wasnt bad does it hurt more then that??
  • I got my first tattoo on my ribcage... and it really wasnt that bad. The worst part was when the artist was hitting my ribs... and my hip bone... the bony parts are the worst... you also might want to think about doing it in two sessions... because i did mine in one session.. and it took 3 and a half hours... and at the end it hurt terrible just because of the constant pain... the first 2 hours werent bad though. Also too... what "Sarifish" said... the pain will be worth it if you are excited about the tattoo... my tattoo had meaning to me... so it was worth every second... Good luck! Hope this helps...
  • Rib cage hurts reaaaallly bad.. not going to lie. I heard that it was going to hurt, but I didn't think that it was going to hurt as bad as it did. Just remember to breeeathe!
  • im going tommorrow for my tattoo, its not so much on the ribs, its more on my side, my tattoo will probably consist on hitting a few ribs, which i am aware will hurt. I have 7 tattoos and all fairly small in different places, this one has meaning, its the only large tattoo ill have and its my final one im going to have. Every tat ive had, if felt it. The back of the neck was the least pleasant for me, it was the only tat i wished was over1 BUT it was defo the best one i have at the moment and the finished product was worth it. Before i read all these posts i was fine and aware, now im starting to get really nervous. BUT i know that everyone deals with pain in diff ways. e.g my wrists were the least painful tattoo but some say its very painful. My Advise would be to get a tattoo of what you want where you want, because youll have the tattoo forever, and the pain for so little time. Whilst you have the tatto think of something else, try talking to someone.. and if the pain gets unbareable, just keep thinking " its gonna luck gr8!"....i dont think tattoo pain is horrible pain, its just burning and uncomfortable!!!!!! But worth it!!! good luck for anyone who is worried and is getting a tattoo x
  • I got my rib piece several days ago and ít's just starting to heal up a bit. First of all, pain is an illusion and it's all in your mind. For instance, when I got my rib piece I kept breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth. I tried to distract myself much as possible by couting tiles on the wall, thinking about how cool my tattoo floated through my mind. Anything but the pain! And would look all finised and healed up, and whatever before I knew it, I was done. So my tip to you will be; keep breathing, remember that pain is between your ears and try to distract yourself with thought! And before you know it you will have a great ribpiece that you can show off! AND! you can say that it doesn't hurt all that bad. Good luck!
  • i got this done in feb. it took 3 hours. some parts killed, the text at the top was horrible, and the parts close the stomach hurt too, but some parts just went numb and kinf of vibrated. it was my first tattoo, and yeah, it hurt, but it was worth it http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c246/lakebball89/SSPX0349.jpg?t=1250442061
