  • A certain number of feet from the edge of the road is considered to be public right of way. The Postal Service does have the right to determine mailbox placement. So long as the mailbox is within the right of way, you are obliged to share that space, even though it is technically yours.
  • Pretty sure "force" is the wrong word. They can can ask you, but that's it.
