  • By checking pulses distal (below) to the injury, you can effectively tell wether the area below the injury is recieving blood flow. The most common places of checking for circulation on an injured extremeity are the radial (wrist) pulse for the arms, and the posterior tibial, and dorsalis pedis (foot) pulses for the legs. Finding a pulse on the arm is easy, but still takes some prior knowledge on its location. Finding the pulses on a foot are difficult, and being able to find them takes alot of practice. A tip is to place 3 fingers on the top of the foot, and check for a pulse. If you are unable to check for a pulse, you can check for numbness or tingling in the area below the injury, along with a bluish color. If it lacks circulation, it may also feel cold. If you suspect an injury that you believe resulted in a loss of circulation to the area below the injury, go to an emergency room immediatly.
