As of the census of 2000, there were 1,676 people, 587 households, and 466 families residing in the village. The population density was 711.1/km sq (1,835.3/mi sq). There were 633 housing units at an average density of 268.6/km sq (693.2/mi sq). The racial makeup of the village was 96.24% White, 0.24% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.89% from Race (United States Census)other races, and 1.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.58% of the population. There were 587 households out of which 44.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were Marriagemarried couples living together, 14.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% were nonfamilies. 17.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.19. In the village the population was spread out with 33.9% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.2 males.
