It comes from the movie, "A Few Good Men". with Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon. Came out in 1991. Rob Reiner directed Movie is set at the Marine Corps Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Jack Nicholson's character, USMC Major Nathan Jessup, in the witness chair, getting grilled relentlessly by Tom Cruise's character, US Naval attorney, Lt. Daniel Kaffee. Kaffee believes Jessup gave the order for a "Code Red" (Like a blanket party, I believe) which resulted in the death of a Marine corporal, Wm. Santiago. Cruise, or rather Kaffee, is hammering away at Jessup and things come to a head, emotions running high. They're yelling. It's controlled yelling, and get less controlled as the scene goes on. High drama. Nicholson: "You want answers?!!" Cruise: "I want the truth!!" Nicholson:"You can't HANDLE the truth..!!" I don't believe he ever actually uses the phrase "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth." verbatim, but that's how everyone remembers it. Classic stuff. Hope you find this helpful.
