  • Yes. It was neutral during both world wars. Many are not aware that Ireland was also neutral during the second world war.

      Yes, & there was the "Starvation Order" for those in the Irish Army who fought against the Japanese or Germans. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-16287211 There were those in Northern Ireland who recommended to Churchhill an invasion of Ireland.

      Wow! I was not aware of that. Weighing the at that time perceived threat from Germany, ie., knowing how Hitler deceived England Poland and Russia, against the "living" memory of the English occupation of Ireland, the Republics position of anti-England over pro-Germany doesn't surprise me. I don't agree with it but I understand it. Thank you for the input kenken. btw I wonder how this situation would apply to Swiss citizens.
