<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Added security
LED light bulbs are an energy-efficient alternative to incandescent light bulbs, as they can operate for up to 30 hours longer than the traditional bulb. LEDs are safe to install and can add security to a home: since they do not need time to warm up, they turn on to their brightest setting immediately. LED light bulbs are also easier to replace than a halogen light bulb.
On the Other: No negatives to report
There are no additional negatives to report on LED light bulbs, as they come with the same risks as traditional light bulbs. If an LED light bulb breaks, a person's skin can be cut. Also, an LED light bulb can be hot to the touch, if it is not given time to cool down after the light is turned off.
Bottom Line
LED light bulbs are just as safe as traditional light bulbs and can be used efficiently, anywhere in your home.

LED bulbs are often much safer than previous bulbs. Current LED bulbs produce more light with less power consumption than earlier types. Unlike fluorescent CFL, LED bulbs contain no dangerous mercury that can be released if the bulb is shattered. LED bulbs also do not emit any significant UV radiation. LED bulbs generally do not get as hot as similar sized CFL or incandescent bulbs. The primary disadvantage is that some LED bulbs, when used with dimmers or timers, may flicker.
