<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: As Many Days As It Takes
Most dehumidifiers will automatically turn off when the desired humidity level in the air is reached. Mold can grow in a house if the humidity is over 50 percent. You can allow the dehumidifier to run unattended until a level below 50 percent is attained or the water tank becomes full.
On the Other: You Need a Properly Sized Unit
If the unit is too small, it will not be able to get the humidity level below 50 percent. If the dehumidifier is too large, leaving it running at a humidity level below 40 percent is a waste of energy and money.
Bottom Line
If you have the correct size dehumidifier and it has an automatic setting for turning off at the desired humidity level, you can run it as often as you like. A dehumidifier can be left running unattended until the water tank is full.
