According to the Food and Drug Administration, beta blockers are not on the list of drugs that interact negatively with Adderall XR. Technically, beta blockers are safe with Adderall XR.
On the Other: Heart conditions and Adderall XR do not mix
Doctors prescribe beta blockers for conditions such as irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, or as protection after a heart attack. Patients with any condition that requires beta blocker treatment should not take Adderall XR. The drug increases blood pressure, speeds up the heart rate and can worsen heart conditions or even cause death.
Bottom Line
Although technically beta blockers and Adderall XR will not interact poorly, having a condition which requires beta blockers for treatment means Adderall XR is not safe to take. Talk to a doctor about appropriate therapies for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder that will not worsen a heart condition.
