Training with wrist and ankle weights, or a lead vest, or a weighted belt is a classic strategy to build strength and stamina without dedicating time to exercising. You can also wear heavier boots than you would normally. Wear insulated steel toe Danners or Redwings when you go anywhere, rather than crappy Crocs or UGHS. There is a reason fat people usually have huge calves and thighs; it takes a lot of strength to haul that bulk around.

  • Uh, just so you know, your knees are the weak point in this strategy. Before you go all chain mail, you will need to build up the muscles around your knees so that they support you, not the cartilage. And while chain mail breathes pretty well, you might need to wear two shirts underneath it. Thin polypropylene next to your skin to wick away moisture and a thick cotton shirt to protect you from the chain mail. You're going to get hot.
