  • Yeah. Right. Hey kid, want to abort a bunch of fetuses when you grow up! Maybe just suggest being a doctor and they can decide what kind when they grow up. Or better yet....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOtMizMQ6oM
  • I don't think any parent (pro life or pro choice) would ever suggest that their child becomes an "abortion doctor". Anyway, that is not a "specialty" that physicians study for. I think that would be something they would decide to do after they have practiced in other areas of medicine and to enforce their own personal beliefs.
  • I would think that abortion rights people would strongly urge their kids to abort babies as their life's work.
  • There is no such thing, so no. They might suggest becoming an OB/GYN, who may sometimes perform abortions among many other women's health care issues. But asking this question the way you did is like asking "Should I tell my kid to become a state paid killer" instead of saying policeman since the police are armed, trained to kill, and sometimes do in the course of their duties.
  • If they didn't know deep down that abortion was wrong, they would have no problem encouraging abortion as a career.
  • I think parents should let the child decide what it wants to be when it grows up, after all, it is their life.
  • Yes, that is an excellent career choice because you can help women and become rich at the same time.
  • It is clear that in asking this you are actually trying to rally yet another debate on whether or not abortion is acceptable..... My kids are grown up now and I don't think that we ever suggested career choices for them - we asked them what they wanted to do, and encouraged them to get to where they wanted to be, but it was what they wanted not what we suggested! However, if one of them had come home and said "When I grow up I want to abort babies!" we would have helped them determine what they needed to study to qualify to become a doctor specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology......who knows they might even have got to deliver some babies too!
  • I suppose if that WERE a medical specialty, there'd be no reason to avoid it. After all, it's not like "abortion doctors" (to use your own term) kidnap women off the streets to add to their practice. They provide a legal service to women who come to them -- at risk to both of them, too -- for performance of a service. I'd rather suggest to my kids that they become "abortion doctors" (or even "suicide doctors", for that matter) than rabid, intolerant religious fundamentalists who seek out, ambush and murder some of those who disagree with them -- and annoy the hell out of ALL who disagree.
