To see my parents. We went yesterday (Saturday). My mother (77) broke her hip falling out of bed, and has Alzheimer's. She doesn't really understand why she can't be at home, but she's not allowed to put weight on her hip until it heals (3 months, they said). My father (76) is there with her, all day, every day. She was moved from the first hospital to a nursing home/rehab center (was there about 30 days), but after over a week of not eating much more than a bottle or two of Ensure or Boost, they finally did some testing, and found she had a massive urinary tract infection, and thrush. She went to the hospital from that nursing home last week for treatment, and testing to see if there's anything else causing her not to eat. (She says she has a pain in her gut... The infection MIGHT have been it, but she also has a hiatal hernia, and there may be other problems. The doctor will check Monday with an endoscope.) As for me, it was to get a 6-week, 6-outpatient visit, 6-layer skin graft on my foot to heal an ulcer. It worked!
