  • If you're not happy with the color of your Yahoo! Mail page, it is possible to change it. Yahoo! Mail offers a number of color schemes for various pages within their mail system. To see them and pick the one you'd like, you'll need to access your mail options. There are different ways to do this, depending on whether you're using Mail Classic or the new Mail system.

    Getting There

First, sign in to your Yahoo! account by clicking on "Sign in" at the top right of the Yahoo! home page, then entering your username and password. Once you click "Sign in," you should be bounced back to the Yahoo! home page, but you'll now be signed in. Check that you're signed in by looking for the text saying "Hi, [your name]," at the top right of the page below the search bar. Next, look at the left side of the page. There should be a sidebar named "My Favorites." The second item on the sidebar should be "Yahoo! Mail." Click on it. You'll now be taken to the Yahoo! Mail page.

Changing Colors in Yahoo! Mail Classic

On your Yahoo! Mail page, click "Inbox." Look on the top right of this page. There should be three menus: "What's New?," "Mobile Mail" and "Options." Click on "Options." This will open a small pull-down menu with two items: "Mail Options" and "Mail Plus." Click on "Mail Options." The page that loads will have two main sections: a sidebar on the left and a center text area. Look in the sidebar and click on the ninth option from the top: "Colors." The center text area will load a dialog box featuring several color schemes for the Mail, Address Book, Calendar and Notepad pages. As of November 2009, it was only possible to change the color scheme in Internet Explorer or Netscape, version 4 and higher.

Changing Colors in New Yahoo! Mail

First, you'll need to switch from Yahoo! Mail Classic to the new Yahoo! Mail. Click on "Try the new Yahoo! Mail" at the top right of the page. This will load a new Yahoo! Mail page. Check that you're using the right version by looking at the Yahoo! Mail logo. The word "Classic" should no longer be under the logo. In the top right corner of the page, there should be three menus: "Mobile," "Options" and "Help." Choose Options. A pull-down menu will appear. The second item will be "Colors." The arrow next to it indicates that this item also has a menu. When you mouse over the word "Colors," that menu should appear. It'll feature a selection of colors you can choose for your Mail pages. Click on one, and your page's color scheme should automatically change.
