There is no one key in my opinion. Even if you're great at one aspect of parenting, if you're bad at the others you'll probably do a pretty poor job. It's important to be well-rounded when it comes to parenting if you want your child to be well-rounded themselves. If you miss out on something they simply won't develop in that area.

Respect. Always assume whatever they did there was an underlying good intention. Find out what it is and learn them something more useful. Nothing is wrong. It's just that some things are useful and others aren't.

Education. Always try to learn from educating yourself by talking with others and reading articles, journals, etc. If you want your child to have a great education, model one for him/her. the more educated you are the more you realize how much more there is to learn. q:)
