    I believe you are referring to the myth of stir never shake a Martini, it bruises the Gin. It's just that, a myth made popular by the movie 'Auntie Mame' with Rosalind Russell,(a great movie by the way). So, James Bond was right, shaken not stirred. In fact, if you don't shake the Martini, you will not mix the Vermouth and Gin together well enough and if you're having a dry martini, the last sip will be all Vermouth and you will have one hell of a sore throat the next day!
