  • I was pissed, I have a beard for crying out loud!!:)
  • When I was doing my student teaching, seniors in high school would call me ma'am. It felt really strange because they were so close to my age---only 3 years younger!
  • the other way. Someone called me "Sir". It was here in AB. One of the Professors from Andhra Pradesh, Indai Siva Prasad. His profile name is vsprasad. I was taken aback and felt a bit too highly rated. I just asked him not to do so and in fact I should refer him sir, because he is an elderly person and am just 19 (then).
  • I felt very silly, uncomfortable, undeserving! It was just after boot camp, I was an e-2, (private first class, almost the lowest enlisted rank in the Marine Corps) and some recruits called me ma'am. It was wierd.
  • I thought it was a little premature. I was in the third grade. Guess the facial hair made me look older.
  • I don't mind when the ladies call me Daddy.
  • I think it's ma'am, which is shortened "madam". And all enlisted personnel in the military are required to address even a young 21 year old 2LT/Ens as "ma'am". I was called "sir" so much when I was younger that I never really noticed the "elderly thingie" until the dental assistants (civilian) started calling me "Mr. Weatherman" and "sir".
  • I don't remember. I do remember the first time someone called me a castrating bitch though. I was so proud.
  • omg, funny story. I was in a restaurant with my dad, maybe in my early 30's, and a young male waiter called me ma'am, and my dad starts snickering! so I said, Don't laugh--you're the FATHER of a Ma'am. that shut him up.
  • Important...worthy of being respected. I love it. I loved it when I was much younger and I love it today! :)
  • I do.. it was three years ago (I was 20) and was called that by my then 24 year old Floridian (is that what you would call someone from Florida?) friend. I have always loved it when she says that, it's just so cute!
  • No, it was probably when I was young, maybe teens or 20s. Didn't really think about it. Some people said that just because you were older than they were or just being polite when they didn't known your name.
  • I was about 19 or twenty, and I was quite miffed, I had a goatee beard at the time!
  • They all call me ma'am on the phone and my wife they call 'sir'!I sound like a woman on the phone and I don't mind!It is funny and sometimes hilarious too!though I have a range of voices which I sing in or talk in.A trait I developed in my childhood.+
