Definitely Christmas. While Thanksgiving is enjoyable, it lasts, at best, for the long weekend. Christmas, on the other hand, is a month-long event, with decorations; parties-parties-parties with good food/good drink and socializing with friends and family; special music; a sense of good will among many, many people; the giving of gifts...and on and on with all kinds of good stuff. Above all, and most important of all, it's the time of recognition of our Lord's birth. [And on that note, I have no problem with DR's that will be forthcoming.] +5

Christmas, it seems to nurture more goodwill. But my favorite is our wedding anniversary! TOTAL love-fest! +3

When I was younger, I wouldn't have been able to choose from either one. But after 48 years of it I kind of don't care. Both are always stressful. Are you celebrating at home, or whos home are you going to and so whos the other party that will get upset at you not going there and if your having it at home, how many people can you fit in your home, whos going to show and who will bow out at the last minute, who likes to eat what, who has allergies, and who are you going to leave off the list. Then on Christmas, who are you buying gifts for. Who said, I'm not exchanging gifts but will always come with one, just for you. I liked Thanksgiving better when I was a kid. We were 7 and so we didn't go anywhere, the same people came over every year and my mom cooked as I played. Christmas was the same except, christmas day we got gifts (didn't have to buy any) and we would go to family homes to deliver gifts that wasn't purchased by us. We would nibble here and there but the big meal was still at home. Also it always felt special to go to Mid Night mass with the whole family and remember what Christmas was all about. Now and days, thanksgiving is more about the turkey and christmas about the gifts and showing off fancy decorations. So baahumbug, I'm with scrooge. That is why suicide is up on the holidays. To much stress.
