Often I assume that the person might be a widow or a widower like I am.:(
-
I assume they didn't feel like cooking for themselves.

Anytime that I go out to eat, with someone or a group of people, it really does bother me to see a person eating alone. I don't know why exactly, but it makes me feel some sort of sadness for that person. And, I'm sure some of them are perfectly happy people. But, I can't help but wonder sometimes.

My wife does this. I find it embarrassing but she will actually go to the movies and out to dinner alone! I asked her why once and she said she would rather eat alone than with an ass. I have to laugh at that being that I work nights so she can't mean me. She must know a lot of asses and a lot less friends.

I assume that they are hungry and wish to eat.

I would rather eat out alone than cook for one person (me). I go to the movies alone ALL the time. Doing something alone allows one to go where they want, see what they want, stay as long as they want and do what they want. It's great.
-
That they were hungry and no longer wants to be, and could afford to eat out and were either geographcally inconvenienced to have a meal at home in a timely fashion or just didn't feel like cooking.
-
I think, "Ha ha ha! What a loser!" I'm the only one dining alone.
-
That they want to eat alone and can afford to lol

I agree with some of the others. I think they are hungry and it may be inconvenient for others to meet them or they just had a hankering for a certain food. As soom of the others I would go to a movie by myself if it was something I really wanted to see. There's a great feeling of freedom when you feel comfortable doing certain things by yourself. It's nice to have others around and often more fun, but the peace you get from being by yourself can be rewarding. Good question, by the way!
