  • 12-06-2016 Oddly, martial artists actually study such things. "Kiai" is a big deal in some schools, and the teachers have noticed that the exact sound depends on nationality. The Japanese mouth tends to make a noise something like "eh-ee" while the American mouth tends to sound more like "heeyaw" or "hooey". But as for "hey", every language I have looked at has that exact sound and they all mean the same thing.
