  • If it is close enough, yes. In fact, if it were very close, you would be able to see much too much. It is suggested that if a star within a few light years went supernova, the radiation from it could wipe out life on earth. Luckily, none of the stars within that distance is likely to go supernova within the next few hundred million years, so you can sleep safe. But a supernova a few tens of light years away would be a spectacular obhect.
