Yes and no -- just as an excess can obviously be problematic, so too can too little. Observe the most insecure is often the one with the most bluster -- an over-compensation for lack of self-esteem. Ego.

I would argue we do not analyze -- we are mostly emotional beings, more sheep than foxes. We decide based on prejudices, past experiences, and what we think we are expected to think. Then with a healthy dose of hypocrisy and subjectivity we rationalize our irrationality.

Ego. It puts a cap on human imagination by curbing it to fit it's all too over iflated image of itself.

That we are much more emotional than rational beings. That by itself is not bad -- the fact that most deny it, is where the problem lies. Hence hypocrisy and rationalization is the norm.
