Probably a bit of both. Being creative uses one half of your brain (not sure which one :P) your presonality and upbringing also help develop your creative mind.

I think that it is something people are born with, same as for people that are highly technically minded, or those that can visualise things and then make them.

I personally believe that we are all born with creativity. Some people choose and can tap into theirs more than others, and some people choose not to. We all have different ways to be creative, not just in the art sense. You can also learn how to tap into your creative energy, but I believe it is there in all of us from the beginning.

I think all humans are born creative and that this aspect of intelligence can be encouraged or discouraged. Creativity is the ability to approach things in many different ways. It is an almost lateral-thinking approach to problem-solving that is not just artistic ability. All children should be encouraged to do this as it serves one well in life. Creativity can be a survival skill.

Creativity is an inherent human characteristic, developed more in some than in others, apparent in some more than in others, but ultimately available to all. You'd be surprised at how much creativity there is in your life already--you just need to become aware of it. But it's everywhere. Of course, what type of creativity you're looking for is also an issue, what do you want to be creative at, what do you want to create, etc. Take a leap, get creative; start a journal, write poems, learn to play guitar or piano, sing, learn a language, dance, etc.

You are born with it, but you can learn with it. It is NOT an inherant skill you are born with, just an inhant aptitude. Some people can paint (I can't) while other people can sculpted (can't do that either!) I can draw manga, but that's it. Find what you enjoy and stick with it.
