Does anyone know whether most companies use LIFO, FIFO or average cost for inventory ? I am just curious because I am an accounting major right now.

That would depend on th operation of the company. FIFO is best so that products do not get old from disuse. If they do use lifo, then perhaps things are put in against a wall.
